call for volunteers
Subject: Royal Botanical Gardens Summer Earth Art Exhibition — Call for Sheridan Art Students.
Ross Halloran, who works in the Marketing department of Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, has sent out a call for students to assist with their 2nd annual Earth Art Exhibition this coming June. The RBG is looking for students to volunteer this coming June to help five international artists — (Ichi Ikeda (Japan), Dennis Oppenheim (USA), and others — create their "in situ" environmental/land art installations. Each artist will be assigned up to two student assistants who will mentor them in the philosophy and technique they use to create their very personal "in situ" art installations. A documentary entitled "Down to Earth" will also be shot onsite at RBG in June to build on footage shot during last summer's inaugural Earth Art exhibition and will later air on Bravo Arts & Minds in October 2009. In return, each participating student volunteer will receive a formal thank you/reference letter from RBG signed by all of the featured artists and a one-time honorarium fee of up to $350 dollars (fees will be based on time volunteer hours worked) as token of thanks for their volunteer involvement and contribution to the success to the Earth Art exhibition. In addition, each participating student volunteer will also be invited as an RBG guest to attend our VIP Earth Art Exhibition Gala opening on Thursday July 2nd, 2009.
Student Volunteer terms will range from 2 to 4 weeks (based on Artists onsite needs and travel itineraries) during the month of June.
See the attached overview of the project.
