Art and Art History Program graduate Rhonda Weppler (1996), and her art collaborator Trevore Mahovsky, have been nominated for the prestigious 2009 The Sobey Art Award, Canada’s preeminent award for contemporary Canadian art. The prize is given to an artist under 40, and a total of $70,000 is awarded annually. Weppler and Mahovsky’s sculpture is currently on view at the Vancouver Art Gallery in How Soon is Now, an exhibition srveying current art in British Columbia.
